Frequently asked questions
Why convert PNG to JPG?
Photos and screenshots saved as PNG are often large. As JPG they usually take a fraction of the space, which suits email and the web.
What about a transparent background?
JPG can’t store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. To keep it, convert the image to WebP.
Will text in a screenshot stay sharp?
At quality 85 and above, yes. For perfectly sharp text choose WebP at quality 100 – it’s lossless and still smaller than PNG.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Images are processed right in your browser and never leave your device. Only the tool itself is downloaded from our server, the same for everyone. More in our privacy policy.
